On the evening of September 6, according to Taiwan media reports, HTC recently submitted a layoff plan to the Taoyuan municipal government. It was said that 400 people would be laid off in Taoyuan City by the end of October. The Taoyuan Industry Federation of trade unions held that the layoff plan did not take into account and did not respect labor rights and interests. It even protested in the municipal government square to support HTC employees and demanded to stop the layoff plan.
According to the employees of HTC, HTC has already carried out the action of dismissing employees before submitting the layoff plan to the labor bureau, and the labor bureau should stop HTC's irregular layoff actions, according to the Taoyuan Industry Federation of trade unions.
An employee who claimed to be HTC also came to protest. He said that he was asked to be dismissed by the company. Although he refused to accept and sign, he was asked to leave the factory.
The Federation of industry unions also pointed out that on the one hand, HTC carried out unscheduled layoffs, on the other hand, it also controlled the company's trade union and prohibited the company's trade union from protecting employees' rights. Ask the city government to intervene in the investigation.
Taoyuan Labor Bureau said it would ask HTC to send the list of layoffs to the Labor Bureau as soon as possible, so as to investigate whether the layoff process is illegal. HTC will also be asked to listen to employees and find solutions that are acceptable to both parties.
HTC said it would not respond.
